St Patrick's Community Support Centre

Since its foundation by the Oblates in 1972, St Patrick’s Community Support Centre has been there for those experiencing, and at risk of, homelessness in Fremantle.

Led by Br. Ignatius Hannick, the Oblates of Mary Immaculate set out to create a soup kitchen for their community after a frail elderly gentlemen approaches the presbytery for help one cold evening.

Assisted by generous donations of both food and time by the community, the first meals were served out of what is now the Parish Hall, and St Patrick’s Community Support Centre was born.

From there, it quickly grew into one of the state’s leading homelessness organisations with the support of the Fremantle community. Many volunteers and businesses who contribute their services and goods have been doing so uninterrupted since the Centre’s foundation.

Today, St Patrick’s Community Support Centre operates out of its own dedicated building on Queen Victoria Street, providing comprehensive support to those on the margins of our community. As a Parish, we are proud to support the St Patrick’s Community Support Centre in their mission of working towards a more just community for all.
